Nicole transitioned her 15-year career at PricewaterhouseCoopers from working on US IPO and global Consulting projects into building businesses focused on getting women funded faster. Nicole founded Next Chapter Ventures and has worked with hundreds of female founders and investor changemakers to understand and address the issues facing female entrepreneurs who are looking to fund and scale their businesses. Nicole was previously on the Board of the Women Entrepreneurs Network in Hong Kong and a member of the Australian Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Network’s Executive Committee and brings her passion for changing the investment ecosystem to the Sophia community. Nicole holds a Bachelor degree in International Business from Queensland University of Technology and recipient of Commonwealth Scholarship for International Studies at IKIP University, Indonesia.

Tanya Rolfe

Tanya’s 15-year legal career at some of the world’s largest law firms has honed her ability to influence and collaborate with people from diverse disciplines and backgrounds, and to structure and manage complex projects. Tanya spent 7 years in Real Estate legal teams before moving into legal team management. Tanya spent 8 years in Corporate M&A at both Simmons & Simmons and Norton Rose Fulbright in London. Eager to enter the world of venture, Tanya founded the Ladies Investment Club in Singapore shortly after moving from the UK in 2017. Tanya grew a team of 40 female investors which enabled female investors to build their investment portfolio and credentials, while providing hard to access funding to female founders. She has a track record of building investor teams to provide the combination of skills required to support founders.

Christine Yu

Christine’s global career spans 17+ years across impact finance, venture building and the international capital markets. In her impact and venture building work, Christine focuses on the edtech, gender lens and financial inclusion sectors. Passionate about investing, transformational education, and the gender lens space, Christine co-founded a non-profit organisation focused on closing the gender investing gap called Girls Just Wanna Have Fund$ (www.gjwhf.org). Christine leads the Hong Kong chapter of AngelVest, a regional angel investing group. With Sophia, she is energised and inspired to share her investing knowledge to a generation of female investors with the goal of bringing diversity and greater innovation to the startup ecosystem. Christine holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Chicago and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

  • Is angel investing right for me?

    Angel investing is an exciting way to learn about innovation with a front row seat and increase the numbers of female investors in the world! However, angel investing does not come without its risks as a highly risky asset class. We teach you some ways to mitigate those risks but you will need to be comfortable that those risks are those you believe match your own risk tolerance.

  • Is there homework involved?

    The course is fully comprehensive and there is little extra work as mandatory elements to the curriculum. However, when learning something new, it is always advisable to immerse yourself in extra reading or listening materials to further cement your learnings.

  • How many hours a week should I set aside to study?

    We know how busy you are and we have designed this course with busyness in mind. You can therefore pick up and put down the course as you need - bite-size learning really fits in with busy schedules. Our course contains two hours of content and we would recommend that you aim to complete the course within two weeks from starting. We believe that you will get the best out of the course by doing it in no more than a two week period and furthermore, this will help with motivation to continue on your journey.
